No Teeth Marks

I've been accused of putting molasses on my cameras to attract animals, but I don't.  This deer was very interested in the camera and may have thought it was something to eat.

A Merry Christmas

I got another Moultrie A-5 Game Camera for Christmas and set it up about 75 feet directly behind our house.  Early next morning I had these two interesting videos.  The buck appears to only have one antler and the flashing lights are TV and radio tower lights.

Dead Batteries and Live Squirrel

As I made my way to the trail cam I could see all kinds of tracks in the snow, including coyote tracks.  I was sure there were going to be some interesting videos but when I opened the camera the dead battery light was on.  I only had 4 videos for over a week of activity!  Apparently the batteries did not like the one below zero night we had and gave up the ghost.  Anyway, I rectified the situation by adding a Moultrie 12 volt camera battery box to the camera.  This is a rechargeable external battery that is supposed to last several months on a charge.  With the battery issue behind me I hope to start getting back to some exciting videos.  In the meantime, enjoy the squirrel in the snow.

Picking Up

Over the weekend the deer activity really started picking up again.  Two videos were interesting.  Early Sunday morning an 8 point buck was caught checking out the trail camera and then later that same morning a herd of 8 or 9 deer passed through.

On the way to retrieve the videos from the trail camera I noticed some coyote tracks in the snow, so I moved the trail camera up to the top of the ridge in hope of getting some coyote action.

Software

Not much happening with all the fog we have been having the last few days.  Does make for some ghostly videos though.  Speaking of videos, checkout "Software" under Cameras & Tips for some information on video and picture software that you will need to really analyze your videos and photos and have a little fun too.

Skunk Too!

Very little deer movement since shotgun season.  There is a lot of squirrel and raccoon activity.  It looks like the squirrels bury the acorns during the day and the raccoons dig them up at night.  This is the first time I've seen one of these go by....

Not Much Action

I was surprised at the lack of action over the weekend. Only a few videos of deer and no other animals. The hunters must have kept all the animals hunkered down. Anyway, I posted the pictures to Flickr and you can take a look. One of the deer may have been wounded, you can only see the left side of it's body but looks like it is panting or coughing and may have blood on it's belly. No hunters chasing it showed up on the camera. I looked around my property but did not see it anywhere.

Shotgun Season

This weekend is shotgun season so I am staying out of the woods for the weekend.  I see and hear a lot of activity out there and hope the hunters are getting a good harvest.  I enjoy shooting but I am not a hunter.  I understand and know the need for hunting and support it.  However, I get more pleasure out of "shooting" game with a game camera. It is exciting harvesting the SD cards from my cameras and going through the pictures and videos to see what new creatures are out there.  The camera has been shooting all weekend so I hope to post some interesting shots soon.

This nice 10 pointer was caught checking out the Moultrie A-5 camera.

Coyotes!

I'm amazed how much wildlife activity is going on just a few hundred feet from my house!  I usually hear coyotes howling and yipping several nights a week but never see them.  These two videos show some live night action.

This video shows a coyote snooping around a treed raccoon.
